GENERAL INFORMATION FOR U12 PLAY
- Generally, there are two practice sessions per week and each practice usually takes place 6:00 PM-7:30 PM. However, both practice days and timing are up to each team’s coach.
- Matches usually take place on Saturday. Some will take place at the Okolona Soccer Fields, but others will take place at other Louisville-area soccer clubs. Matches consist of two 30 minute halves with a halftime period.
- Under 12 teams play 9 v 9 which includes the goalkeeper. Players will settle into a position (generally where they are most comfortable and most skilled). At this level, they should have well-developed foot skills and should be using both feet regularly. Teamwork is imperative and they should be self-motivated enough to practice even without constant supervision by the coaches.
- Players have developed a sense of pride and have matured considerably, but they may have a difficult time managing negative emotions (for example, if a referee makes a mistake, or if they have an issue with another player). It is imperative that they learn to manage their feelings in a positive way and that they behave respectfully.
- At this age level, all FIFA rules apply.
